- Collapse of Soviet Union and "democratization" of its satellites=US sole superpower
- The nation was divided thorough the political "squabbles" but united after the September 1, 2001
- George Bush attacked Afghanistan (terrorist haven) and Iraq (for having weapons of mass destruction and "ties to terrorists")
A. In Iraq, 1100 American lives were lost (civilian lives don't matter) and couldn't "recover" WMD but Bush won the election in 2004 anyway
Bill Clinton: The First Baby-Boomer President
-"New Democrat"
A. Formed (centrist) Democratic Leadership council against "anti-business, dovish, champion-of-the-underdog" toward "progrowth, strong defense, and anticrime"
-Wanted to stimulate the economy, repair the health care and welfare system
-People worried more about paychecks rather than their past foreign policies
-Clinton's campaing "It's the economy, stupid."
-H. Ross Perot got 19, 742, 267 popular votes (the biggest win for an independent or third-party candidate)
-Clinton's cabinet had a lot of ethnic minorities
-Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O'Connor---> Female judges
